Dudh Kunda Trekking is known as a virgin trekking trail and newly opened trekking route in Nepal. Only Few trekkers do this route is a cultural journey for family, students, and for all. Dudh kunda trek itself is one of the best destination places in Everest region. Dudh Kunda is believed to be a holy lake and locals believe that taking a dip in the holy water will have the wishes granted. During full-moon nights in August, pilgrims and Jhankris (Shaman Priests) hold a week-long celebration here. This area has many diverse ethnic groups living here such as Kulung, Sherpas, Khaling , Tamangs, Magars, and Gurungs. On top of that, it is said that the hospitality of the locals is one the heartwarming experiences in the Solukhumbu area.Dudh Kunda trek offers Himalayan views of Everest, Buddhist monasteries, green forest with Rhododendron flower, pine tree and different wild animals and Milky Lake.
Dudh kunda trek is anancient trekking route in the Everest region, and begins after 8 hours drive from Kathmandu to Jiri and this trekking is possibly operated from the Phaplu too.

 

 

Outline Itinerary

Day 1 :Arrival, Check in Hotel. Evening Welcome Dinner. Overnight at Kathmandu Hotel.
 

Day 2 :Full day sightseeing and trek preparation day.
 

Day 3 :Kathmandu drive to Shivalaya(1810m.)
 

Day 4 :Shivalaya trek to Bhandar(2400m.), 6 hrs walk.
 

Day 5 :Bhandar trek to Namkheti(2300m.), 7 hrs walk.
 

Day 6 :Namkheti trek to Naur Gompa (2900m.), 7 hrs walk.
 

Day 7 :Naur Gompa trek to Pikey Danda(4070m.), 4 hrs walk.
 

Day 8 :Pikey Danda trek to Junbesi village (2580m.) 7 hrs walk.
 

Day 9 :Junbesi village to Thupten Chholing Gompa (3000m.), 3 hrs walk.
 

Day 10 :Thupten Chholing Gompa trek to Veri Kharka
 

Day 11 :Veri Kharka to Dudhkunda Lake, 6 hrs walk.
 

Day 12 :Explore day in Dudhkunda
 

Day 13 :Dudhkunda Lake to Barkhe Kharka, 7 hrs walk.
 

Day 14 :Barkhe Kharka to Chiwang Gompa, 5 hrs walk.
 

Day 15 :Chiwang Gompa to Phaplu, 3 hrs walk
 

Day 16 :Fly back to Kathmandu, evening farewell dinner.
 

Day 17 :Final departure, or requested other tour will be made.
 



What to Bring ?

The following checklist should help you with your packing. As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. The packed weight of your trek bag while trekking should be no more than 15 KG.

  • Baselayer Hiking boots Socks
  • Trekking trousers / pants

  • Waterproof jacket

  • Sun protection (including total bloc for lips, nose etc.)
  • Water bottles 1 L. Antibacterial handwash

  • Sleeping bag 4 or 5 season * (rated down to – 20ºC)
  • Warm jacket (down)*

 

Medical

  • Small, personal first-aid kit. (Simple and light)
  • Aspirin, first-aid tape, and plasters (Band-Aids)
  • 1 skin-blister repair kit
  • Anti-diarrhea pills
  • Anti-headache pills
  • Cough and/or cold medicine
  • Anti-altitude sickness pills: Diamox or Acetylzolamide
  • Stomach antibiotic: Ciprofloxacin, etc.
  • Do not bring sleeping pills as they are a respiratory depressant.
  •  Water purification tablets or water filter
  • 1 set of earplugs Extra pair of prescription glasses, contact lens supplies.
