#Gokyo Valley, Gokyo Ri Trekking difficulty
Gokyo Valley (4790m) and Gokyo Ri (5300m) certainly demand some a certain level of physical fitness. However to be super fit is not mandatory for the ascent. Most of the trekkers to Gokyo Valley and Gokyo Ri agree on the point that an acclimatization at Namche is indispensable because the elevation gain as you hike up the mountain terrain comes up with its own challenges. Therefore it is important you take acclimatization and not rush. Technically stating, it is moderate category trekking and the difficulty commensurate with that of Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp. Anyone with physical stamina to walk five to six hours a day with a light backpack can easily do this trek.

You will spend the first night in Nepal at the hotel.

We will visit Swoyambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, museums, and other important places that weren't visited the previous day. You might want to do some shopping in the late afternoon. We shall be participating in a debrief session concerning the tour. Spend your last night at Kathmandu before we beat up ourselves in the wilderness of Gokyo valley trekking.
Altitude: Kathmandu: 1,350 m

Day 3 : Journey to Lukla/Phakding
Next morning, after a 35 minutes flight, we will arrive at Lukla. Here, we will meet our guide and porters (if required) who will accompany us throughout the trek. Then our trekking starts. Across Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridge, through forest full with rhododendron, raging river, monasteries with hum of chanting and sacred flags flapping in cold year, villagers with cheerful smiles, we will reach Phakding. We will spend our night here, among curious little children. Lodges here offer good accommodation.
Altitude: Lukla: 2,828 m; Phakding: 2,780 m

Day 4 : Trek to Namche Bazar
Early in the morning, after having breakfast, we continue our journey, through waterfall, Gompas, walking along with Dudh Koshi River, through valleys such as Benkar, Monjo until we reach the entry point of Sagarmatha National Park. Crossing over hanging bridges, through Jorsale Village, we penetrate into the Everest area. We have to cross the conflux of Bhote Koshi River and Dudh Koshi River at Larja Dobhan. Then trekking over the ultimate steep trail for approximately an hour, enjoying the view of the Everest, we reach Namche Bazar—the gateway to Mount Everest. Namche Bazar remains busy during Saturdays, as local market is held. Under the roof of Everest we shall spend our night here—at the largest village of Sherpa community.
Altitude: Namche Bazar: 3,440 m

Day 5 : At Namche Bazar
The main reason behind our stay at Namche Bazar is to let our body acclimatize. To avoid severe altitude sickness, we will explore Namche Bazar little more, visiting monasteries, satellite villages, etc. You may find Sherpa Museum that contains the history of Sherpa community and their life along with mountains. Mt. Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Everest and other peaks can be viewed from Everest View Hotel; you might like to hike over there.  You might also like to hike to Thame Village, Khumjung and Khunde Village to visit ancient monasteries and witness the villager's culture and lifestyle from very close. We spend another whole day and night here that won't be available until we reach Gokyo.
Altitude: Namche Bazar: 3,440 m

Day 6 : Hiking to Phortse Tanga
Next morning, through rhododendron forest, pine trees, twisting route, we reach at the junction of two trails: one, leading to Everest Base Camp, the other, leading to Gokyo Valley. Parting away with EBC trail, we move through Yak Kharkas, and uneven altitude of trail until we reach Mohang. Overlooking the Tawache Peak and Khumbila Peak, we arrive at Phortse Thanga. Situated at an altitude of 3,680 meters, on the bank of a river, enveloped by mountains and forests, Phortse Tanga is a beautiful village blooming with rhododendron. We stay here for the night.
Altitude: Phortse Tanga: 3,680 m

Day 7 : Hiking to Dole
After breakfast in the very next morning, we advance across various suspension bridges and rhododendron forest. Through pastures for Yaks, Tongba Village, Gyele Village, waterfall, we reach our destination for the day—Dole. Here also, our old friend—the Dudh Koshi River doesn't leave us. Since it is a major stopping point for trekkers, you may discover lots of guesthouses and lodges. We spend our night here at Dole.
Altitude: Dole: 4,200 m

Day 8 : Hiking to Machermo
Through alpine forest, ascending higher and higher beside few valleys, we have to face beautiful ridges. Though it may be easy to manage, it is straight uphill. Then we cross Lhabarmo; which is relatively a small summer settlement. Passing through Yak pastures for summer season, we shall approach Thamserku Peak and Kantega Peak. The view from here will be worth watching. The trek continues until we reach Machhermo. At Machhermo we shall have lunch and reward our trek for the day. We shall spend the night here.
Altitude: Machhermo: 4,470 m

Day 9 : Arrive at Gokyo
Finally the day comes to be at Gokyo! Through alpine forest under mighty mountains, we will take short time to enjoy the view of Cho Oyu and Katenga Valley. The excitement will be burning us as we cross Pangram. We then have a steep climb over the terminal moraine—the Ngozumpa glacier. But before that, we have to descend until we arrive at the bank of a river. Then through Longponga , we come at a trail leading us to Gokyo. Longponga Lake is quite popular for footprints of Lama. It normally takes around 6 hours to arrive at Gokyo from Machermo. Because the trail is quite steep, we will trek taking our own time. Gokyo is surrounded by snow covered mountains, and is a must-visit destination for its beautiful lake. The settlement is small but constantly growing.
Altitude: Gokyo: 4,790 m

Day 10 : At Gokyo
This will be the most rewarding present we could ever get in our entire trek, and perhaps in our entire trekking experience ever. Filling up your lungs with cold Himalayan air, devour the views of Mountains and the freshwater of the lake. In this day, we shall ascend the Gokyo Ri taking enough breathe and time to avoid altitude sickness. Through steep gradual uphill, we are at the top of the peak Gokyo Ri. The top-hill enjoys the sacred flags blowing in the wind. After you reach at the top, you will be amazed by the panoramic view that this peak and entire trek have to offer you. The spectacular view of Kusum Kangaru, Mt. Everest, Cholatse, Lhotse, Thamserku, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, and other mountains, along with beautiful view of glaciers and Gokyo village will arrest your eyes and heart. As you stand and stare from this hill, you shall discover a change in yourself that you would carry along with you at the place you live. After the view, we shall return back to Gokyo valley. We shall spend the night here and lament over our experience till now.
Altitude: Gokyo Ri: 5,463 m

Day 11 : Return trek: to Dole
Early next morning our return trek starts. Descending is quite easier than ascending uphill, and takes less time and effort. Through third, second and first Gokyo Lake, following Dudh Koshi River, crossing bridge and Phangka, we keep advancing until we arrive at Dole. After Chorten, we hike over twisting trail and arrive at Machherma. Again, through Lhabarma and Luza, Yak pastures, forests full of rhododendron, we arrive at Dole—the destination of the day. We spend the night over here.
Altitude: Dole: 4,200 m

Day 12 : Return trek:  to Namche Bazar
After having breakfast, the very next day, we head off to Namche Bazar. Descending from Dole, Phortse Thanga, again through rhododendron and pine forest, we arrive at Tongba. We have to ascend Monga Hill and trek until we reach the junction. Again, through Kenjoma, Sanasa, and thick forest we arrive at Namche Bazar. After we reach here, we might be wondering how quick we actually completed the descending trail. We spend the night here at Namche Bazar.
Altitude: Namche Bazar: 3,440 m

Day 13 : Return trek: to Lukla
The next morning, we hike over hilly terrain, after steep descent. Arriving at Larja Bridge, Monjo and Sagarmatha National Park we might lament over our starting of the trek. Through numerous hanging bridges, tributaries of Bhote Koshi River, valleys of Chheplung, Benkar, Phakding, Nurning, we reach to Lukla. The very next day we have our flight back to Kathmandu. We might part with local guide and porters. We will spend the last night so close to mountain here, at Lukla.
Altitude: Lukla: 2,828 m

Day 14 : Return Flight: to Kathmandu
