Island Peak Climbing can also be done from a famous Sherpa settlement, Chhukung whose cost is USD $850 in Autumn and USD$950 in Spring. How we meet at Chhukung?
During the peak seasons: Spring (March to Early June) and Autumn (September to November) we have our mountain climbing guides and all the necessary staff standby at the Base Camp of Island Peak. We have one of our staff at Chhukung to collect your team and lead you to Island Peak Base Camp.  We can stay in connection through mails prior to arriving at Chhukung so as to smoothly organize Island Peak Climbing adventure for you.

What about the Island Peak Climbing permits?
In Kathmandu, before you fly to Tenjing Hilary Airport at Lukla for your trekking in the Everest Region, we will hand you over your paper and climbing permits which you will carry throughout your trekking in the Everest Region. Then on the completion of your trekking, you will arrive at Chhukung at arranged time and location (name of the lodge) where our staff will pick you up and brief you about Island Peak Climbing.

Do I need to have prior experiences?
You don't really need to be a veteran or experienced mountain climber to set your foot on the summit of Island Peak (Imja Tse). Unless you are excessively obese or have some physical impairment, Island Peak climbing can be done without prior experience or skills regarding the use of climbing gear. Our professional mountain and peak climbing guides will give you short training at the Base Camp of Island Peak.

Can we hire climbing gears at Chhukung?
Our staff will facilitate you with almost everything necessary to climb Island Peak at Chhukung. They are fully aware of all the paraphernalia needed to climb peaks the world over. They will provide you with crampons, ropes, carabiner, screw, main or leading ropes, harness, ice-axe, snow anchor and other climbing appliances.

Detailed Itinearary
Day 01- You will arrive at Chhukung elevated at 4749m. Chhukung can be reached out either crossing Kongma La Pass or hiking through Dingboche as per your itinerary. Relying on the information exchanged between us, our staff will meet you at your lodge in Chhukung.

Day 02- Being led by our staff, you will hike up to Island Peak Base Camp, which takes you approximately three hours. At Island Peak Base Camp (5200m), our mountain and peak climbing guide will coach you to properly use the climbing gear for about two hours.

Day 03-  This is a historic day, on which we set foot on the top of world famous Island Peak and make it all the way back to Island Peak Base Camp. If it turns out that the weather is not that supportive, you can stay at the Base Camp overnight and get back to Chhukung the next morning.

Island Peak Climbing from Chhukung Permit Fee
Island Peak (6061m) is situated in the Everest Region of Nepal. Nepal Mountaineering Association has brought into effect Island Peak Climbing from Chhukung Permit Fee which is as follows:

a, Spring ( June, July, August)– USD$250
b, Autumn(September, October, November)– USD$125
c, Winter(December, January, February)– USD$70
d, Summer(June, July, August)– USD$70

The permit fees for Spring and Autumn are comparatively higher than they are in Summer and Winter, which is because Spring and Autumn are the best times as they are not too cold, offer clear weather, thereby offer the highest chances of successful climbing of the peak.

September,October and November in Autumn and June, July and August in Spring are the best times for Island Peak Climbing from Chhukung. December, January and February in Winter are frigid months and June, July August are often rainy and overcast.
