Mt. Makalu Expedition includes the climbing of Mt. Makalu (8481m) first climbed in 1955 by two mountaineers: Lionel Terray and Jean Couzy from a French Expedition Team that was led by Jean Franco, southeast to Mount Everest on the border shared by Tibet and Nepal. The price for Mt. Makalu Expedition differs agency to agency. Most of the local and international agencies have a common margin falling between USD $0000 and USD $0000 whereas Himalayan Wild Treks has limited it to USD $0000 In addition, Himalayan Wild Treks also has updated Makalu Expedition Map and client friendly Makalu Expediton Itinerary.
There are altogether four segments. The frist segment includes West Face at 5790m towards ice fall located at 6100m. The second segment includes the terrain above ice-fall along 35 to 40 degree rocky elevation at 6500m. The third segment includes 50 to 54 degree slope till 7350m elevation. The fourth segment includes 70 to 74 degree at climbing that leads to the summit. New and durable ropes re fixed in advance. The French trail to West pillar first scended in 1971 is extremely complicated. The US team summited the peak via West Rout in 1980.
The first attempt of the climbing Mount Makalu was made by American Team and that was led by Riley Keegan in spring 1954 via southeast ridge but they failed at 7100m because of constant storms. Subsequently a New Zealand team led by Sir Edmund Hillary made an attempt in the Spring but failed due to illness. Then in 1954, a French Team made successful attempt and got victory over the summit setting the record of the first climbers of Mount Makalu. Since then, it has been a sought after Expedition destination for mountaineers. It is technically one of the most adventurous mountains above eight thousand meter.
The expedition starts with a brief sightseeing of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu while going through paperwork formalities. Then the team will have a scenic flight to Tumlingtar (285m) en route to Kuwapani (800m)– Chikhila (1205m)–Num(1800m) –Seduwa (2375m) –Tashigaon (2960m) –Khongma La (3520m) –Mumfuk (4020m) –Yangle Kharka(4600m)– Marak(5900m) –Sersung (7633m)– Makalu Base Camp(8463m). From Makalu Base Camp, the climbing of the summit takes forty days. After the successful climb of the peak, we recede to Mumbuck (5980m) –Khongma Dada (5433m)–Seduwa (3965m) –Chichila (1800m) then arriving at Tumlingtar (5433m) from where we take a flight back to Kathmandu(1400m) wrapping up the expedition.
